ALWAYS CHECK SEWER LINES ON HOME PURCHASES

Rod recently found out he had to run a new sewer line to his property. However, the repair was going to be very expensive because it was routed through a neighboring property. After calls from our show, he was able to get the sewer line routed more directly, bypassing the neighbor’s property. All it involved was him granting the water and sewer district an easement so they they could cross his property at another point, without the need to dig up the neighbor’s land.

Consumer tip: When you buy real estate, always have inspections made of water and sewer lines to be sure they are routed through your land! If they go through a neighbor’s property, it may cause some very expensive repairs and maintenance issues in the future.
