Hired a contractor (Keith Owens) recommended by his cousin. He contracted to add onto his old deck ($3,900) but screwed it up. He used old support posts and other problems. It is a covered deck now leaking into his kitchen. He had another inspect it who said it will take $5K to fix it. He texted him an apology and said he would come back after May.
