Mike called because he is being hounded by a collector on a very old debt.
By the way, in Colorado the statute of limitations on uncollected debt is 6-years. That means after 6-years creditors can no longer take you to court to get a judgement. Therefore, the old debt is “toothless”
Beware of collectors who attempt to “resurrect” those expired debts. They offer to settle the whole matter for a just a few bucks. You may pay that “settlement” amount to get it behind you. But that is a big mistake if the settlement was not laid out in a properly executed document. I have seen cases where the collector lies, to get you to pay something on the old debt. Once you do that you may have “resurrected” it, which could start the clock ticking for another 6-years!
