Solar System “IN” but not “ON”

Bill had a solar system installed by Photon Brothers. He said the system was completed by Photon Brothers on September 17th. He said he is awaiting various inspections and he is frustrated with the delays. He said Photon Brothers is not helping!

Our solar expert says here is what should happen after the solar system installation is completed: 1) The system gets inspected by the “Authority Having Jurisdiction” – which is basically the agency where the permit was issued (usually the local city or county building department). 2) Then, the installer uploads final inspection report to the utility company. 3) Then, the utility company does its own inspection and issues an approval to operate. After all of this, the system is put “online”.

Unfortunately, many solar sales people and installers do not always follow through effectively to get the systems online in a timely manner. But in some cases, it is not the solar contractor’s fault. Sometimes the ruling authorities drag their feet that prolongs the process.
